Total knee replacements create an entirely new joint. There is a single metal femoral component that articulates with hardened plastic as the new weight-bearing surface. It is incredibly hard wearing.

In recent years there have been advances in our understanding of how the knee works and how we can best recreate normal anatomy.

With preoperative imaging and examination, I can predict how your knee looked before you suffered from arthritis and joint destruction. The knee joint is complex so it is assessed with 3D orientation. I will use this information to best recreate you normal anatomy with the new knee replacement.

During the procedure each bone cut is measured and matched to the implant dimensions. This allows your total knee replacement to recreate your knee with an individualised approach to your unique anatomy.

Intra-operative guidance can either be manual or assisted by a robot-arm which is paired with a pre-operative CT scan.
